Regardless of how racist Fuhrman actually was, apparently as a result
of the publicity the DA's office reviewed all the cases in which he
helped obtain convictions. None of the inmates said anything negative
about him.
Amid all the clamor of how racist he was, I saw a line in a newspaper
article claiming his version was that he was helping a screen writer
create dialog. You know, "Help me create a composite of the most
racist officers you've run across in your career - we need a bad guy
who is completely over the top." That was quickly buried in the noise
and nobody bothered to ask if that was a factor as the monster du jour
had been duly pilloried and nobody wanted to ruin a good story.
