Mating Merlins |
| Body: |
A pair of Merlins have been carrying out courtship rituals since
May7th here in immediate vicinity of my property in Sandy
Cove(Eastport). On May8th female was calling from top of a flat topped
spruce when a smaller male alit on her back and mated with the female.
Have sighted several Bald Eagles in vicinity of Eastport beaches
feeding on dead seals which have washed ashore.DC Cormorants(2) were
seen yesterday in Salvage Bay.Feeder birds are few in number but WT
Sparrow finally made an appearance on May7th.On same day got a
fleeting glimpse of a 'warbler',probably a female Yellow Warbler,but
no sightings since then.Weather is cool and winds northerly, not
exactly warbler weather.
