Wheatear Alert |
| Body: |
Most interesting to see the two wheatear reports from today (Sunday).
Had another one reported from Cappahayden today. Likely only the tip
of the iceberg. Still slightly early for Labrador breeding wheatears
to be arriving so these are probably Greenland birds which arrive
earlier. Clear skies and moderate NE winds across most of the NW
Atlantic seems right for shifting a few wheatears down to
Newfoundland. Most likely lots more wheatears and... well should be a
few other things. The last major spring wheatear event a few years
ago in late May brought a few score wheatear, one Garganey and a Black-
tailed Godwit to the Avalon. The weather may be ugly but the birds
coudl be good. This is a good time to be birding.
Put on that winter parka and keep on birding!!
